I grew up in 2 communes. One in Leeds and one in rural south, west Scotland called Laurieston Hall. I lived at Laurieston Hall for 7 years until I was 16. It’s an amazing place which has been going for 40 years now and is the longest running community of this kind in Europe. To celebrate Laurieston Hall turning 40 they made a book and I drew its cover.
OVER & OVER: A Catalog of Hand Drawn Patterns – Published by Princeton Architectural Press.
There are six pages of my hand drawn patterns in this amazing new book made by the New York artist Mike Perry. You can buy it online here and at all good art book shops.
Review of the book – “Over and Over: A Catalog of Hand-Drawn Patterns collects groundbreaking work from fifty of today’s most talented designers who create patterns by hand and use them in their work in inventive and innovative ways. The examples in this book push the boundaries of the traditional concept of what a pattern is. The selected works are often not an end result but the beginning of something else, of something bigger and broader. Featuring more than 250 vibrant and exciting patterns, Over and Over explores this magic on every single page.”
Play: The NYLON Book of Music. Published by Universe.
I have two pages featuring me and my work in this book by Nylon Magazine. You can buy it HERE.
‘Residing at the forefront of cool since its inception, NYLON magazine is the authority on what is current when it comes to beauty, fashion, and music. Play features the personal style of singers, bands, fans, and other innovators in today’s music universe: what they wear, who they listen to, what shows they go to, and what inspires their own music. Drawing from new interviews with dozens of popular musicians (such as Bjork, Meg White, M.I.A., Lily Allen, and Amy Winehouse), coverage from concerts and festivals around the world, and the inspiring looks of music icons past and present, Play presents music as a lifestyle, not as a pastime. Taking the style, irreverent tone, and fresh approach that NYLON is known for, Play is a must-have title for today’s music lover.’
