I have a drawing in a new book by Francesca Gavin called ‘The Book of Hearts’. The Book of Hearts’. This book examines the breadth of visual interpretations of the heart symbol. It is full of artists visions of the heart and features work by Keith Haring, Julie Verhoeven, Marcel Duchamp and many more… It is published by Laurence King.
‘This collection of heart imagery highlights how a universal symbol can be creatively interpreted and constantly reinvented. It captures the breadth of art and design imagery exploring the meaning and representation of hearts.’
I grew up in 2 communes. One in Leeds and one in rural south, west Scotland called Laurieston Hall. I lived at Laurieston Hall for 7 years until I was 16. It’s an amazing place which has been going for 40 years now and is the longest running community of this kind in Europe. To celebrate Laurieston Hall turning 40 they made a book and I drew its cover.
